Mechanism of Action

In preclinical and animal models, Selank modulates GABAergic ligand binding and gene expression, inhibits enkephalin-degrading enzymes (enkephalinases), upregulates BDNF mRNA expression in the rat hippocampus, and influences ex-vivo cytokine expression. Clinically established single molecular targets in humans remain under investigation.
